Idols are unlocked by completing main quests and reaching the Council Chambers for the first time. If you continue to follow the main path in the story, you will unlock your first two Idols by the time you reach level 12. Some players can get them sooner and others will have them much later on. It all depends on how much you farm or explore each area. Either way, you won’t have access to any Idols until you reach the Council Chambers for the first time.

Keep in mind that you can’t just teleport to the Council Chambers to earn your first Idols for passive benefits. You need to complete the first couple of chapters and then speak to Elder Gaspar who is in the same Hub. He is the NPC that gives you two Idols for the first time along with the slots needed to equip them. Without the slots, these items are useless, which is why teleporting also won’t be much help in this instance.

How to Equip Idols In Last Epoch

Open your inventory and drag your Idols to the top right of the screen where there are empty blocks to equip them. After you speak to Elder Gaspar for the first time, you will have a total of four blocks to equip any Idols. This gives you the option to place one vertical Idol and a horizontal piece. As you find more Idols in the game, you can move them around like a Tetris puzzle. The larger the item, the more power it will have.

Completing more of the main story will allow you to unlock more spaces for Idols in your inventory. Much of your power will be tied to this section of the game, and on some builds, a decent Idol can completely change the way it functions. Every single Idol in the game provides a passive bonus, but late-game drops can bring some incredible damage or ability changes to your character in Last Epoch.

Shortly after you unlock Idols, you’ll come across your first Mastery.
