Before you get started in Last Epoch, you can choose to create an offline character or an online character for some additional options. Before you make a decision, though, this guide will cover whether you can swap between modes on one character.
Last Epoch – Can Offline Characters Transfer to Online
No, there is no way to use an offline character in the online realm. Once you create an offline character in Last Epoch, that character is stuck in the offline realm forever. There won’t be any cycle updates to the character and there won’t be any way to start joining your friends if you decide that you don’t like the isolated setting. If you plan on playing online in any capacity, then I highly recommend just sticking to the online realm.
If you are a player who is running into server issues, especially with the Last Epoch 1.0 launch, you may be tempted to just play offline and then swap. This won’t work, and if you want to play online afterward, you need to make an entirely new character. Progress won’t save so there is really no point in attempting to jump around.
Now, that doesn’t mean there are no advantages to an offline character in Last Epoch. One of the best parts is having no server issues and you can save your character to a hard drive. This makes the overall experience much smoother if you plan to play solo regardless. There are even still some online aspects that you can make use of such as chatting with other offline players, but you won’t be able to use any real interactive features.
Many of these same sentiments can be applied to Legacy characters as well. Anything you make in the Legacy realm is completely cut off from Cycles, so choose carefully when making a fresh character.
If you’re new to Last Epoch, make sure to use one of the best leveling classes to make the process easier.
