How to Get Medals in Helldivers 2

Medals for Liberation

Helldivers 2 has a few different currencies to collect, and if you want to finish all of the Warbonds, you need to start earning Medals. The good news is that there are a couple of ways to obtain Medals, which I will outline for you in this Galactic War guide.

Here are the best ways to earn Medals in Helldivers 2:

  • Complete missions: each mission you complete will earn you at least one Medal, with more Medals rewarded depending on difficulty and the number of missions you complete during a single Operation.
  • Complete Personal Orders: this is the fastest way to earn Medals, netting you around 15 Medals all at once upon completion.
  • Find Medals while exploring during missions: wander off the beaten path during a mission to check out points of interest. These are indicated by glowing orange beacons, and they sometimes contain a random assortment of supplies and goodies, including Medals.

In Helldivers 2, Medals are primarily earned by completing a mission in the Galactic War or by finishing your daily Personal Orders. Any time you complete a mission and successfully extract back to your ship, you will earn at least one more Medal for your collection. The higher the difficulty you play, the more missions you’ll have to complete during a single Operation, allowing you to earn more Medals. When you look at your total currency progress, these are marked as gold circles with a black skull.

But earning one Medal at a time can get tedious, so if you want to speed up the process, your best bet is to focus on your Personal Orders with the help of friends in multiplayer for the best results. You’ll always have at least one timed Order to complete for the day in Helldivers 2, and completing the Order will give you 15 Medals straight to your full currency collection.

You can view your current Orders at the Galactic War table or by pressing “L2” as you walk around your ship. There are usually two different orders in Helldivers 2 that cover the entire community and players at a personal level. Keep completing these and normal missions to earn as many Medals as possible.

How to Use Medals in Helldivers 2

In Helldivers 2, Medals are used as a currency to unlock all of the cosmetic items in a Warbond. Warbonds are Helldivers 2’s version of battle passes, and you can check them out by accessing Acquisitions while on your ship. Each Warbond has eight items that can be unlocked to earn the next tier. As you progress a Warbond, items will become more expensive, meaning you’ll need to spend more Medals to move on to higher tiers. To get the full standard collection, you’ll need around 1,200 Medals.

Currently, Helldivers 2 has two Warbonds for players to access but only the standard version is free for everyone. The premium Warbond costs 1000 Super Credits to unlock and access, but you can readily find Super Credits while out and exploring, meaning you don’t actually have to spend a single cent to start dumping Medals into Helldivers 2’s premium content.

And that’s all you need to know about Medals in Helldivers 2. To get started in the war, check out how crossplay will work in Helldivers 2.
