In Persona 3 Reload, one of the ways to increase your Charm stat is by answering the classroom quiz questions correctly. On 4/18, you’re asked, “The places where people dumped their waste in the Jomon period – what are they called nowadays?” – here’s how to answer it in P3R.
The Places Where People Dumped Their Waste in the Jomon Period in Persona 3 Reload
Unlike other classroom quiz questions that give you some context before asking you for the answer, Gekkoukan High’s Mr. Ono is brutal in his approach here. He gives you nothing to go on when asking, “The places where people dumped their waste in the Jomon period – what are they called nowadays?”
You’re given three answers to choose from: Boneyards, Middens, or Hovels. While “Boneyards” may seem like the natural answer, the correct answer is “Middens.” Answer correctly, and you’ll gain a +1 Charm bonus to your Social Stat.
If you’re curious about the historical context here, “midden” is a word that refers to a dunghill, and these refuse heaps weren’t just in Jomon Period Japan. Middens were a common feature as a garbage dump in ancient civilizations, and cultures worldwide would use them, dumping waste that included animal remains, botanical material, mollusk shells, and human waste. Apparently, middens are highly valuable to archeologists as a treasure trove of material used to study the diets and activities of past human settlements.
“During Which Historical Period Were Middens Most Commonly Used?” Midterm Answer
Fast forward to 5/22, when you’ll be at the end of taking your midterm exams in Persona 3 Reload. You’ll be asked a history question that expects you to remember Mr. Ono’s lesson about Middens. It asks, “During which historical period were middens most commonly used?” and gives you four answers to pick from: Jomon, Yayoi, Kofun, and Asuka.
If you can’t recall back far enough to that waste-dumping question, the correct answer is “Jomon.” They just loved to dump their waste in middens, apparently. You won’t gain any Social Stat boost for answering correctly here; it goes toward your overall midterm score. Once you get your score back at the end of the week, that’s when you’ll get your Charm boost.
If you speak to Mitsuru after your midterms, you’ll also gain the following items if you scored well:
- Power Increase I.
- Guard Increase I.
- Magic Increase I.
- Speed Increase I.
- Proto-Choker (only if you got the highest score).
It’s unlikely that you’ll get the highest score in your grade at this point in the game unless you’ve gone HAM with leveling your Academics stat to level 3. You can find out how to do that in our Persona 3 May Test Answers guide.
