How to Upgrade the Seneschal in Drums of the Vault Diablo 4

As you play through the main story in Season of the Construct, you will come across the Drums of the Vault quest which tasks you with upgrading the Seneschal. If you’re having trouble using the upgrade at the brazier, I have just the guide for you in Diablo 4 Season 3.

How to Upgrade the Seneschal at the Brazier in Diablo 4 – Fix

To fix the “Drums of the Vault” quest, you need to restart Diablo 4 and then return to your task of upgrading the Seneschal at the brazier. Upon success, you can interact with the brazier and place the Pearl of Warding into the fire.

When Ayuzhan tasks you with upgrading the construct at the brazier behind him, many players have been unable to interact with it. An otherwise simple task has become far more confusing considering there is no clear path forward when the bug persists. But don’t let the old man stop you from making progress and farming your XP. There is always at least one workaround.

How to Fix Drums of the Vault in Diablo 4:

  • Attempt to interact with the brazier behind Ayuzhan.
  • Restart Diablo 4 and return to The Gatehall.
  • Once fixed, interact with the brazier and place a Pearl of Warding.
  • The Seneschal is now upgraded.
  • Repeat the process if needed.

The only fix to the bug is to continue relogging your character or restart Diablo 4 entirely. Each time you log out and log back in, or restart the game, run back to the brazier and attempt to upgrade the construct once again. If it doesn’t work, then keep trying. Until there is a hotfix or an official patch, this is the only real solution. Luckily, simply restarting appears to work in almost every case.

When The Drums of the Vault quest works as intended in Diablo 4, you should see a menu appear like any other altar in the game. You need to place a Pearl of Warding into The Gatehall Brazier behind Ayuzhan to upgrade the Seneschal. This process establishes a line of communication between you and him for story purposes.
