Time Crystal alternatives

Time crystals are at the center of most transactions in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, but Xerxes offers an alternative way to get some more powerful gear. This guide will cover where you can use the old currency and what it’s used for.

Where to Spend Xerxes in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

You can spend Xerxes at The Scrapper Merchant in The Depths or at Kaheva’s Forge in The Haven main hub. In most cases, Kaheva the Blacksmith will be the first place that you spend some of the old currency to upgrade your amulets. Each amulet in the game has a couple of upgrade tiers that start with time crystals. Any tier after will require some Xerxes as well, which means some upgrades are directly tied to these coins.

The Scrapper has some powerful items as well that can cost up to five coins for one purchase. However, The Depths is tied behind the mid-game story and you’ll need to make some decent progress before you find the odd merchant. Once you do, you can take the Citadel elevator all the way down to The Depths itself.

How to Get Xerxes in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

Unlike the time crystals in the game, Xerxes can typically be found by exploring each zone and completing a platforming puzzle. Each piece of old currency will be floating when you encounter it, and as soon as you jump into it, the coin will start floating over your head. This means you need to reach the ground or a flat surface without taking damage for the coin to become yours.

By the end of the game, you will have plenty of coins to make use of along with the time crystals in your collection. Use them when you can to become even more powerful with each new level.

If you need a place to spend some time crystals, head to The Mage and upgrade your potions.
