Nintendo Releases New System Update For Wii U, Plans Another One For April

Expect performance to be improved with these new patches.

Nintendo, getting ready for a big upswing in software for the Wii U with games like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Lego City Undercover releasing this month, is making sure its system is up to speed.  The company has just released a new free firmware update for its console, version 2.1.3 U, which is set to bring “further improvements to overall system stability.”  Though it didn’t quite break down where the improvements would be, we’re guessing loading times and other slight technical areas.

This is just one small update compared to a much bigger one that the company is planning next month.  That one will bring Virtual Console support to the system, enabling gamers to add to their library with a number of NES and SNES games, including the ones that are currently being promoted for $.30 a pop, like Punch-Out!! and the forthcoming Super Metroid.
