WoW SoD: What is the Best Hunter Pet? – Answered

Hunter can somehow get easier

The Hunter class is already one of the best DPS options in World of Warcraft, and having the best pet makes the Season of Discovery even easier. With some fresh changes to the game and a low-level cap, what constitutes a good companion may differ this time around.

What is the Best Hunter Pet in WoW SoD?

The best Hunter pet is the Cat or a Carrion Bird in World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery. Because the Hunter class is a top-tier pure DPS option, the Cat takes the top spot for most players. It’s agile and will dish out the most damage in a short amount of time. The goal with a cat is to quickly take on a target in melee range while you get to stand back and spam arrows.

Carrion Birds are more debatable as a top-tier option, but I think it makes more sense in the Season of Discovery due to the game’s flow. Everyone is currently capped at level 25, which will continue to increase incrementally every month or so. Until then, builds aren’t end-game oriented. Instead, builds should technically still be in the realm of leveling and dungeon delving.

The Carrion Bird offers a way for Hunters to reliably taunt enemies and reduce their damage in melee range. Screech is the ability that lowers melee damage, and Growl works as a taunt. Both these abilities ensure that you can attack at range without any interruptions. Of course, you lose some pet DPS in the process, but you can make up for it in damage consistency.

Using the Owl is a great third option as a Hunter pet in WoW SoD. It acts the same way the Carrion Bird does, adding more damage to the mix. That damage comes at a cost to the HP and defense that he Owl has though, so pick your poison.

If you want to change up your Hunter entirely, make sure you have enough Silver to Respec in WoW.
