How to Get Optative in Destiny 2

Getting Optative is as easy as turning in a Wish Weapons Engrams to the Spirit of Riven in the H.E.L.M. You’ll need four Wish Engrams and 3,000 Glimmer to claim Optative. And it’s well worth it.

In 2019, Optative hit Destiny 2 with the Season of the Undying. And, since then, it’s been a weapon that’s hard to come by. But with the arrival of the Season of the Wish, Optative is back in the loot pool.

While the perks you roll for Optative are random, Optatives obtained during the Season of the Wish (and likely onward) will come with the Origin trait Nano-Munitions. This means that being near allies will slowly build up a partial emergency ammo refill for the next time Optative runs out of ammo. Emergency ammo amount will increase with the time spent near allies.

This means that Optative will work best in collaborative environments, like the Crucible, Trials, or in cooperative missions like raids or seasonal activities.

Best God Rolls for Optative in Destiny 2

While Optative comes with a brand new origin perk in Nano-Munitions, the best builds for it remain the same.

  • Basic Barrel → Hammer-Forged Rifling. Range +10.
  • Basic Magazine → Accurized Rounds. Range +10.
  • Basic Trait 1 → Kill Clip. Reloading after a kill grants increased damage.
  • Basic Trait 2 → Outlaw. Precision kills greatly decrease reload time.

This build works best in PvP, though with buffs to hand cannons in general you can see value in PvE as well.
