While at its core, you’ll mainly invite tenants into your home and set rent expenses, the three-minute trailer proves there’s more than meets the eye as it dives deep into managing your properties, setting quality and prices, and ensuring your tenants stay happy.

The trailer starts with a retired property owner guiding you through the home management basics. We’re introduced to unit configurations, allowing you to pick individual rooms and decide whether they’re yours or your tenants’ spaces. You can also choose shared rooms, which tells the game you want to be a common space for everyone to use and socialize.

This menu also provides miscellaneous details about your unit’s value, dimensions, and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms it has.

From here, it moves on to setting up your tenant agreement. Here, you’ll set your daily rent and lease length alongside your unit rating and rules. Beyond determining how much money you’ll make from renting out your property, you can use this page to gauge what type of Sims you want and your current unit rating.

The last part of the trailer reveals your fill vacancy, showing your current applicants, their rent cap, and what rooms they want in their unit. As your unit rating increases, more tenants will be willing to pay extra for their space.

Overall, The Sims 4: For Rent’s gameplay trailer highlights the pack’s core features and gives an overview of what you can expect going into it. It reveals a complexity that can make or break the experience, especially as you build your own apartments and determine how you want to lay out your units.

The Sims 4: For Rent expansion pack is set to release on December 7, 2023, with three pre-order bonuses available until January 18, 2024.
