Star Wars: First Assault Hinted At For Xbox Live Arcade

What is LucasArts up to? We have a faint idea.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a new Star Wars game on our radar, even though 1313 is looking quite intriguing, despite being way off from release.  But LucasArts may have something to fulfill our galactic dominating needs in the meantime.

A listing from the Xbox.com page (pointed out by those nimble users at the NeoGAF forums) indicate that a new Star Wars game is in the works for Xbox Live Arcade.  Titled First Assault, the game appears to be a throwback to the massive multiplayer action of the Battlefront games, with plenty of vehicular and on-foot action between Rebels and Stormtroopers.

LucasArts first filed a trademark for the game back in August, and we were able to snag an image of the game before it was taken off the Xbox site.

We’re not sure if this is a spiritual follow-up to the Battlefront series (which had been rumored for a while now, with Spark Unlimited in charge) or just a spin-off for quick online battles, but we’re intrigued nevertheless.  We’ll have full details on the game once they’re official in an upcoming preview.

And remember, the Force will be with you.  Always.
