Are There Flashlights in Cyberpunk 2077? – Answered

Bringing a different meaning to lighting up the place.

Cyberpunk 2077 offers you an expansive world through Night City, featuring all sorts of locales. You have your mega-rich corporate buildings alongside the slums deep beneath the prettier parts of the city. All of this looks different in day and night and offers different levels of light. With that said, you might wonder if you can brighten things up a bit. Here’s whether there are flashlights or not in Cyberpunk 2077.

Can You Get a Flashlight in Cyberpunk 2077?

Sadly, there is no flashlight available in Cyberpunk 2077 at the time of writing. There’s no key binding for it, and doing logical things like holding the F key down on the keyboard won’t give you a flashlight. You also can’t buy one from a vendor or use some kind of eye cyberware to create a makeshift life source.

According to Pawel Sasko, the Quest Director for Cyberpunk 2077, the team felt that adding in a flashlight would ruin the lighting contrasts that Night City naturally produces. If you could light up certain areas on a whim, it might ruin the artistic style the team was going for. A strange reason if you ask me, but it’s what the team believes.

Is There Any Other Way to Light Up Dark Areas?

Thankfully, there are a few ways that you can light up darker areas while playing Cyberpunk 2077, though the methods are a little unorthodox. The first is to use a night vision scope, which will let you see that area clearly. You can either find one already attached to a weapon, or can purchase one from your nearest gun store. You can also turn up the brightness by opening the Settings menu, navigating to Video, and selecting the Gamma Correction option on the left side of the screen.
