Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Cure Petrification in BG3

Is there a doctor in the house?

Basilisk is indeed an unpleasant mythical creature to set your sights on (pun intended) and, similar to Medusa, it will attempt to turn you to stone. The Basilisk is a common creature in fantasy games, and in Baldur’s Gate 3, players can become afflicted with Petrification, causing their character to turn into stone and become useless, putting them in grave danger. However, Petrification can be cured in Baldur’s Gate 3, and I am here to help you as an unlicensed online underground forum witch doctor of some sort. Here’s how to cure Petrification in BG3!

How to Remove Petrification from a Character in Baldur’s Gate 3

If you want to remove Petrification from your character, you need to obtain some Basilisk Oil and apply it to the Petrified character.

Your character(s) may get afflicted with Petrification by Basilisk. The character who got this disease will become a perfectly chiseled stone statue until this state is reversed. The items on the character are also turned to stone. It’s also worth mentioning that damaging the stone statue might shatter it, causing quite a problem for the character.

Where to Find Basilisk Oil in Baldur’s Gate 3

Here are just a few known locations where you can find Basilisk Oil in BG3:

  • In the basement of the arcane tower, more precisely – in the room located under the generator.
  • In the Necromancer / Apothecary Cellar located in the Blighted Village
  • In a heavy treasure chest located behind the wall filled with spiderwebs in the Underdark.

That’s basically it. Sadly, there is no record of the “Stone to Flesh” spell existing in Baldur’s Gate 3, despite there being a Level 6 “Flesh to Stone” Transmutation spell that you can use on your enemies if you have a Warlock or Wizard.
