Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Get Bags of Holding in BG3

At the moment, there is no proper Bag of Holding in Baldur’s Gate 3, and there’s no longer any items that function similarly to a Bag of Holding. If you want a Bag of Holding in your BG3 game, you’ll need to mod the game.

Previously, the Chest of the Mundane found in the Arcane Tower would have a similar attribute as a Bag of Holding, disguising anything you put in as “mundane” items and reducing their weight, but this was never an intended effect by the developers. The Chest of the Mundane has since been patched and no longer reduces the weight of items within it.

Chest of the Mundane Before Patch 1

Before Patch 1 in Baldur’s Gate 3, if you weren’t planning on adding mods to your Baldur’s Gate 3 playthrough, the most similar item to a Bag of Holding was the Chest of the Mundane.

The Chest of the Mundane would reduce the weight of most items that were placed into it. Placing items into the Chest of the Mundane would temporarily turn them into random mundane items while inside the chest.

Once removed and placed back into your inventory, the items would regain their weight and transform back into their normal form.

You can find the Chest of the Mundane in the main entrance level of the Arcane Tower in Underdark.

Of course, you could just send your items to camp, but the Chest of the Mundane would allow you to swap out your desired items with ease.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Bag of Holding Mod

If you aren’t a fan of the Chest of the Mundane, you may want to consider adding the Bag of Holding mod to your game. This mod adds fully functional Bags of Holding into Baldur’s Gate 3 without all the hassle of the Chest of the Mundane, which has now been patched anyways.

This requires a bit of modding knowledge. However, the video below may help you out with that.
