The Corrupted Status effect in Remnant 2 is much rarer than the standard effects you find throughout each campaign, and that is because it plays a role beyond gameplay mechanics. For days, the community has been attempting to unlock the Archon Archetype, and Corruption appears to be part of the key, but how does it all work?
What is the Corrupted Status Effect in Remnant 2?
In Remnant 2, the Corrupted Status effect is used for a puzzle within The Labyrinth. Unlike the other status effects in the game, this is not a standard mechanic that enemies utilize in combat, and it’s also not something you would use either. Instead, Corruption has been used for a very specific door that players are using to uncover the Archon.
At the time of this writing, the Archon Archetype has not been unlocked, but the community is close. Players have discovered that rare enemies in The Labyrinth, or even bosses, can give the Corrupted Status effect for a brief duration. You’ll be able to see that the effect has taken hold above your health bar in Remnant 2, per usual.

The Corrupted Status effect doesn’t last long, and that seems to be part of the overall puzzle. Players need the Master Key, which is also in The Labyrinth, along with the Corruption to reach the box believed to hold the Archon item.
For now, one of the major obstacles in the Archon puzzle is getting the Corrupted Status effect to last long enough to reach the locked red door. Some theories have gone around that there are hidden items or concoctions to help retain the effect, but no solutions have been successful. Until one of them reaches that Eureka moment, we have to wait on the Archon and more Corruption.
One of the few things with a designated “corrupted” tag is the Ravager. When you reach this part of the game, you’ll need to know if you should kill or revive the doe.
