Remnant 2: How to Change Your Archetype

Mix and match your favorite classes to suit your playstyle.

When beginning your adventures in Remnant 2, you’re stuck picking between a small handful of Archetypes that can be a tough decision. You naturally have to make sacrifices, since there will generally be one or two other Archetypes that catch your interest. This isn’t even including the Archetypes you can find later in the game. With all that said, you may want to know how to swap to something else for a bit. Here’s how to change your Archetype in Remnant 2.

How to Get Another Archetype in Remnant 2

To change your Archetype in Remnant 2, you must first get an Engram. These are gotten by acquiring the base material of the Archetype, followed by turning that material into an Engram. Acquiring an Archetype’s material is done through either purchasing one from one of the nearby shops, or acquiring one through other means throughout your adventures. We won’t spoil those ones as they’re better found yourself, but you can speak to the following vendors to get the following materials:

  • Brabus: Rusty Medal (Hunter)
  • Reggie: Old Metal Tool (Challenger)
  • Doc Norah: Medic Pin (Medic)
  • Mudtooth: Broken Whistle (Handler)

Once you’ve purchased one of these materials, or gotten one for a different class through other means, make your way over to Wallace at the docks of Ward 13. He’ll let you upgrade that material into an Engram, for a price at least. Once you have that Engram, you’re ready to swap.

How to Swap Archetype

To swap Archetypes, select your Primary Archetype at the Archetype screen and select another Engram. Once done, you’ll be on the new Archetype and likely level one with it. You can also select the Engram slot to the right of the Primary Archetype to run a dual Archetype setup. This can be great, though the Secondary Archetype won’t benefit from a Prime Perk like the Primary Archetype will.
