What’s New This Week in RuneScape for July 17, 2023

GENERAL

  • When switching into legacy interface mode, its previously selected chat filter now persists.
  • Fixed an issue that priotitised saving single stackable low value items above high value items for HCIM players on death.
  • Players can now complete the Civil War III miniquest before completing the Twilight of the Gods quest.
  • Fixed an issue which prevented Abomination’s second slam attack from inflicting damage, and the animation from appearing.

WOODCUTTER’S GROVE

  • Wood Box functionality has been added for Wood Spirits to improve Inventory management.
  • Items stored in a Wood Box will organise themselves based on level.
  • The ‘My Fort Smells of Rich Mahogany’ achievement now requires Maple Planks to fit better with other medium level area achievement requirements.
  • The Murder on the Border quest overview should now list the correct items required for completion, and correctly match the Blueprint requirements.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the ‘I’m a Lumberjack and I’m Okay’ achievement from being awarded properly.

QUESTS

  • The Quest Cape and I’ve Got a Little List (of Miniquests) achievements now list their requirements in release order rather than alphabetical order.
  • The markers used to enter and exit quest instances in the New Foundations, Murder on the Border and Unwelcome Guests quests have been updated to be more consistent.
  • Sorting the quest list by starting area now lists Twilight of the Gods under Varrock Outskirts and Unwelcome Guests under Wilderness, instead of Elsewhere.
  • The Unwelcome Guests quest can now be sorted in the quest list by combat difficulty.

GRAPHICS

  • Some of the characters featured in the Dead and Buried quest have been graphically updated (we won’t tell you which, to avoid spoilers)!

FLETCHING

  • Fletching buffs for saving resources and auto-stringing unstrung bows now have additive percentage chance when multiple buffs with the same effect are active, instead of rolling for each buff separately and choosing the first one to proc (e.g. Crystal Knife and Wergali incense). This more accurately represents the desired outcome of stacking random chance buffs and provides an increased probability for the effect to proc.
  • Additional XP is now awarded when the Fletching Skillcape inspires you to craft extra ranged ammunition and headless arrows. The chat message now points out that ‘an extra bundle’ has been made instead of ‘double’, allowing for other buffs that provide additional bundles to proc at the same time.
  • Fixed an issue where the portable fletcher would award the additional XP and consume the resources for stringing two bows at once, but not give an extra strung bow.
  • Buffs for saving fletching resources no longer send the extra resources to the bank, instead they are not removed from the inventory. The fletched product will be sent to the bank if saving resources resulted in not having enough space to receive it.
  • Saving logs via a buff while fletching an unstrung bow or crossbow stock would previously not subtract an action from the MakeX queue, allowing extras to be fletched within the same queue. Although this can be a useful feature, it has been removed to remain consistent with the other instances where the buff to save fletching resources procs, and to prevent the seemingly-buggy behaviour of the MakeX interface which would not increment a craft in the progress bar and add more time onto the countdown clock. It was also a consideration that a player may not wish to use their saved logs on crafting another of the same item.
  • Fixed an issue where fletching unstrung crossbows and finished crossbow bolts, along with stringing crossbows, did not provide a chance to acquire the fletching skilling pet.
  • Corrupted magic logs now provide a chance to acquire the fletching skilling pet.
  • The portable fletcher no longer provides a chance to string two crossbows at once.
  • The portable fletcher now allows a chance to save resources when making unstrung crossbows, as well as producing two at once. If both effects proc, saving resources will only apply to one of the fletched items.
  • Better continuity across fletching skilling pet rolls: when a buff to fletch multiple items at once procs and/or the buff to automatically string a bow procs, the XP is awarded accordingly for all output items and the skilling pet roll is calculated using that XP value. Boosts applied directly to XP gain do not provide additional chance. Elder God Arrows were the only instance where the skilling pet roll was calculated using buffed XP; this has been amended to remain consistent with other fletched items, however additional XP and skilling pet chance is now provided if the ‘extra ammo’ buff procs.
  • Fixed an issue where the player-owned farm hen perk, Headless Chicken, would consume 1.5x feathers instead of 0.5x when fletching headless arrows and darts. The chat message has also been updated for better clarity of the effect when it procs.

Fletching was one of my first skills to hit 99, and so it is nice to see it get some much-needed love. It is almost nostalgic to think back to that 99. Now there’s a new skill on the horizon and I wonder how much more involved leveling Necromancy to 99 will be. No bank standing there I would assume.
