New League of Legends Pro Circuit Announced

Riot Games has unveiled a brand new League of Legends professional gaming league beginning sometime next year.

The first set of events penned is the Championship Series, which will consist of the best eight teams from North America, Europe and Asia. The whole thing will be available to watch in free HD streams broadcast worldwide.

Apparently “the biggest prize pool in eSports history” will be on offer, and the inclusion of salaried teams means “League of Legends is a sustainable career choice for professional players.”

The top three winning teams from North American and European season two Regionals will be sent to the Championship Series next year. The North American matches will be held at PAX Prime from August 30th – September 2nd, the Europeans will be at Gamescom August 16-19th.

“Talking to players around the world, they repeatedly asked if we could kick League of Legends eSports into higher gear,” said co-founder and CEO of Riot Games, Brandon Beck. “The new League of Legends Championship Series is our answer. Millions of fans tune in every time we support a major League of Legends tournament, so we’re broadening that support in an unprecedented way.”
