Is the Punisher Worth Buying in the Resident Evil 4 Remake? – Answered

The Punisher is decent at punishing, for what it's worth.

Resident Evil 4 Remake has its fair share of weapons to purchase, with nearly every single weapon being buyable from the Merchant in one way or another. Each has its strengths and weaknesses, though that doesn’t stop some weapons from outshining others. Handguns are an important category to choose from, with some handguns having quite a lot of value. Here’s whether the Punisher is worth buying in the Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Should You Purchase the Punisher in the Resident Evil 4 Remake?

The Punisher marks one of the five handguns you can acquire during your time with Resident Evil 4 Remake. The other four are the SG-09 R, Red9, Blacktail, and Matilda. The SG 09-R and Matilda are mostly write-offs for various reasons, but each of the other weapons does have its niche depending on what you fancy. From our experience with the Remake though, we suggest saving those Spindels and using the Red9 once it’s unlocked in Chapter 4.

There are a few reasons for this. First and foremost, the Red9 just looks much sleeker. Perhaps it’s just us, but something about that old-school style of pistol just has far more flair than a modern-looking one. Looks aside, it also is quite a bit stronger than the Punisher once you pick up some upgrades for it. Slap some reload speed, the stock, and some power upgrades into it, and it’ll prove to be a monster against even the strongest of enemies.

If you’re wanting it badly though, then spending a measly five Spindel on the Punisher isn’t a horrible call. You can always sell it later for some cash, and you get a healthy amount of Spindels from doing the Merchant’s requests. Just don’t go expecting it to carry you through the game.
