We knew a new Need For Speed game was in the works over at Electronic Arts – we just didn’t know what it was yet. Today, EA officially confirmed that the new title is none other than Need For Speed: Most Wanted 2, a game that will bring high stakes racing back to the forefront, as you elude (or possibly play as…?) the police while engaging in several fast-paced racing events.

Criterion, the studio behind Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit and Burnout Paradise, is handling development duties for the title.  And while all the platforms haven’t been unveiled yet, it’s rumored that the game will be coming not only to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but also the PlayStation Vita and Wii U.  We’ll know more for sure this coming Monday, when the game’s first trailer is unveiled at the EA press conference, then later that night on Spike TV’s pre-E3 special.

We’re looking forward to plenty of racing shenanigans in Most Wanted 2.
