Do Students and Teachers React to Avada Kedavra in Hogwarts Legacy?

While you won’t find many opportunities to do this, the short and simple answer is that, yes, students and teachers react to you using Avada Kedavra in front of them. However, since this spell is only available near the game’s end, there are few situations where you’ll see this in action. Regardless, there are a few ways you can.

You can see this in action when doing quests alongside companions and teachers. Upon casting Avada Kedavra, whoever you’re with will react uniquely to the spell. While some students and most teachers will scold you and say you shouldn’t use it, certain students are genuinely impressed and will express awe or admiration.

Another way to see this is by downloading mods that allow you to use the spell on non-hostile NPCs. While this means your playthrough won’t be completely vanilla anymore, it’s an interesting way to observe people’s reactions to the Killing Curse. Just be careful of what you download!

Does This Affect Character Relationships?

If you’re concerned about a student or teacher suddenly being terrified or hating you for using this spell, there is some good (or bad) news. Aside from a quick verbal reaction, your relationship with other students and teachers is unaffected. Hogwarts Legacy has no morality system, meaning that, while people generally don’t appreciate you using the spell, you won’t receive any penalties.

Hogwarts Legacy is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch through the official website. To learn more about the game, check out How to Unlock and Cast Petrificus Totalus in Hogwarts Legacy and How to Get Crucio in Hogwarts Legacy.
