How Long Does Pax Dei Early Access Last? – Answered

A journey or a quick trip?

It’s unusual for an MMORPG to launch in Early Access. Sure, it happens, but most tend to develop behind the scenes, run a few playtests with content creators, and then launch the game—full release—to the public. Pax Dei intends to launch in Early Access, but for how long?

How Long Will Pax Dei Remain in Early Access?

Developer Mainframe Industries hopes to keep Pax Dei in Early Access for approximately one year, until June 2025, though they’re upfront with the community that it could take longer. As I’m sure we all know by now, game development is tumultuous. A single build can introduce countless new bugs, game-breaking crashes, and even wipe character progress entirely. In an MMORPG, that’s the kind of build that destroys the player base entirely. But in Early Access, we’re the testers. It’s expected that things will break, but when they do, players should report the issue to the developer to help them fix the problem.

Why is Pax Dei Launching in Early Access?

There are numerous excellent reasons why a game of this scope would choose Early Access over a full release. The primary reason is that Pax Dei revolves around community. Without an active community, the game cannot evolve, which means development stagnates. By opening the floodgates this year and then continuing development into next summer, developer Mainframe Industries will receive valuable feedback, playtesting data, and real-time experience with the various mechanics and systems that make Pax Dei unique.

On top of the development reasons, there’s also the topic of cash. Most developers don’t like discussing money with the fanbase, but the studio behind Pax Dei touched on the topic. They want to help fund the game and reinvest the profits from Early Access to improve the experience and game world over the next year and beyond.
