How to Progress in the Story of Empires of the Undergrowth

When you start playing the story mode, your colony or Formicarium starts with a lonely Formica Ereptor queen trying to build up. A scientist placed you in the Formicarium as an experiment to see how your gene-thief ant colony can expand and adapt through different environments. This is where the stages come in where you have to survive various experiments and stages.

Before undergoing the experiments, you’ll see different stages under the story level select menu. You can open this by pressing the button on the top left side of your screen. There are two different stages before an experiment and this is where you would build up your main Formicarium.

You have three different resources, Territory, Food, and Royal Jelly, when playing on your Formicarium. You won’t be able to find any of these resources until you play through the stages.

Once you select any of the stages like 1.1 or 1.2, you’ll be taken to a different scenario where you’ll be playing a separate colony and finishing all the objectives. If you achieve victory, you gain rewards, such as Territory, Food, and Royal Jelly.

Each stage has different difficulties, and once you finish a stage for the first time, you also unlock the challenge mode, which gives more Food, more Royal Jelly, and a bigger Territory bonus.

These resources transfer to your main Formicarium, which is then used to improve your colony with some much-needed upgrades for your ants or Food to increase its size. You’ll go through these stages repeatedly until you get stronger through the upgrades. Once you are strong enough, you can try to finish the experiment stage or the main story. In this stage, you’ll have to use your Formicarium.

This is how the game’s level design works, and you’ll have to progress through different stages and scenarios to advance the story.
