The Last of Us Remastered is known for its collectibles, but it’s also known for an inventory system that works on upgrading your weapons and gear. While most of the Parts required for upgrades are found laying around the environment, there are four safes that also contain large batches of useful items.

Here are the chapters, locations and combinations for each one of them. Happy hunting!

Chapter 3: The Outskirts

This safe is found just after you acquire the Molotov, and then pass underneath some debris into the darkness. The area is filled with several Runners and Clickers, so you’ll want to clear them out first. If you’re having trouble with that, read our walkthrough for Chapter 3: The Outskirts. When the area is clear, you can go into a store that is to the left of where you entered, finding the Note to Derek in a drawer behind the counter.

Exit the store and go straight across to the other side of the subway terminal. There will be two more stores, one of which has a Runner standing next to a safe. Of course, if you’ve already killed the Runner, you won’t see her standing there. Approach the safe, and as long as you’ve picked up the note, you’ll be given the option to open it and claim all the goodies inside.

Chapter 4: Bill’s Town

The only safe in Bill’s Town is found on the main street, just after you boost Ellie over the chain link fence so she can open the gate for you. From the gate, turn right and go all the way to the far end of the street, grabbing the Note to Bob that is stuck in a barbed wire barricade.

Backtrack the way you came, looking for a pickup truck with a safe beside it on the left side of the road. Keep in mind, when you were walking toward the Note to Bob, the vehicle and safe would have been on your right. Approach and open the safe to claim a few valuables on the inside.

Chapter 5: Pittsburgh

You can find the third safe just after you enter The Hotel Grand. Snag the ladder that’s in the room, then place it against the wall where you can climb up. The story wants you to go left, but you’re going to be a rebel and go right, shimmying over some broken stairs. Turn on your flashlight and look in the back corner of the room. Laying on the ground you’ll find the Note to Staff, which contains the combination to the safe in the first-floor lobby.

Drop back down onto the first floor of the hotel and go behind the counter. If you’re not sure where it is, the counter is to the right when you first enter the hotel. At the very back part of that area you’ll find a safe that is partially submerged in water. Now that you have the note, the safe will open and you’ll be able to pick up all the loot inside.

Chapter 6: The Suburbs

The final safe in the game is located in the final house, after you exit the sewers but just before you drop down and are engaged by the Sniper. Go all the way up to the third floor of the home where you’ll find a Matchbook with the combination. If you’re a fan of the Bow, you can also find a couple of arrows up there.

When you’re ready, return to the second floor and into the bedroom that contains the safe. Now that you have the combination, you should be able to pop it open and take possession of all the valuables inside. That’s the final safe of the game, which unfortunately do not provide any type of trophy or achievement for opening all four.
