WoW SoD: Best Addons for Classic: Season of Discovery

Don't leave your starter area without these!

Addons are almost an obligatory extra feature in World of Warcraft. They’re allowed by Blizzard and can enhance your gameplay experience by a ton, so you should be using them whenever you can, and some of the best ones available are listed here.

The Best Addons for WoW Classic: Season of Discovery

These are some of the best, most useful addons you can have in your game. They can make your whole life easier by simply implementing them in your game, so don’t miss out on those!

Warning:

Addons are 99% of the time safe to use, but Blizzard won’t help you directly with issues you may run with them. You’ll have to resort to the addon’s creator for that. All addons in this list can be considered reliable and trustable, so things will probably not get to this point.

1 – Questie

Enhances your questing experience through the early game by marking your objectives (such as target monsters) with an icon above their head, as well as adding icons for each NPC in the minimap, indicating where you can find merchants, repairs, Class trainers and other utilities that should’ve been in the base game. It feels borderline impossible for a new player to go in without that one, so get that one.

2 – RestedXP

This one also makes your early game easier by giving you an on-screen guide for which quests and monsters you should seek next. It optimizes a route for the fastest leveling possible, but can also plan a safer route if you’re playing on a Hardcore realm.

While it won’t be 100% accurate for Season of Discovery (since it’s tuned for regular Classic), it gets most of the things precisely. Just don’t neglect the initial Rune quests as it won’t tell you to do them!

3 – TomTom

Adds coordinates to the game, which makes finding objectives way easier. It also gives you a big arrow (similar to the one you get from RestedXP) that leads you to important objectives you can set yourself. But most importantly, it leads you directly to your corpse if you die, so it’s invaluable when first tackling the game.

4 – Details! Damage Meter

Pretty self-explanatory. This damage meter reveals how much damage you and your party members are currently dealing to the targets. No need to compare yourself too hard to others (especially if you’re just starting), but if you feel like you’re not dishing out enough numbers, this addon will be the first hint you’ll get to research and learn your class better.

5 – Deadly Boss Mods (DBM)

Displays a dungeon/raid’s boss mechanics in a timeline, also giving you a hint of what you should do next. Extremely useful for endgame raiding where coordination is key to everything.

6 – Auctionator

Revamps the Auction House UI to make it clearer and easier to use, making it easier for both find what you need to buy or discover the ideal selling price for a rare loot you just got.

7 – Leatrix Plus/Maps

Two separate addons, actually, but made by the same person. Maps improve the World Map function (similar to Questie), while Plus does a whole ton of things, like automatically accepting and proceeding any quest, improving the UI and disabling certain annoying system notifications. It’s the ultimate QoL addon, and it has so many features that you should just test it.

Leatrix also has a Sounds addon, but I wouldn’t say it’s as necessary as those two.

8 – Bagnon

Improves the Bag interface to show all of your items in a huge, unique bag instead of various separate ones. Helps you manage your inventory like no other Addon could.

How to Install Addons in WoW Classic: Season of Discovery

World of Warcraft automatically creates a dedicated Addon folder when you install it. By default, it should be on C:\WoW\World of Warcraft_classic_era_\Interface\AddOns for WoW Classic. Download your desired Addons, extract them and paste them into said folder. Many addons can be added without having to close/restart the game, requiring a simple “Reload UI” command.

Once you add them to the folder, launch the game (if it isn’t open), log in to your character, press Esc, and then click Addons. You should see all of your installed addons here, and you can choose to enable/disable any of them at any time. But you’ll probably want them on all the time since they can make completing those complicated quests way easier than with a vanilla installation.
