Will Realm Royale Come to PS4, Xbox One and Switch?

If you haven’t followed the news over the past week or so, then you might not have heard about Epic Games latest big announcement. Fortnite is now available on the Nintendo Switch, literally bringing the free-to-play battle royale experience to every platform available. But, if you aren’t into Fortnite, or you just want to try something different, then Realm Royale is an excellent option—and a strong contender in the battle royale genre.

Set within the Paladins universe and utilizing some of the same unique systems that made Paladins feel so fresh—Realm Royale is Hi-Rez’s take on the battle royale experience, and it’s definitely a unique one. Right now the game is only available on the PC, through Steam’s Early Access program. Like previous Hi-Rez titles, it stands to reason that Realm Royale will eventually make the jump to other platforms. However, at this point in time, Hi-Rez hasn’t made any official statements on the topic, which means right now, anything could happen.

The good news here, though, is that Hi-Rez recently pushed Paladins over to the PlayStation 4, which means they do have some experience moving games over to Sony’s platform. Now, whether or not this happens anytime soon for Realm Royale is yet to be seen, and honestly, it’s probably for the best that they focus on the PC version of the game right now. As an Early Access title, Realm Royale will change quite a bit throughout its development, and by limiting themselves to only one system, Hi-Rez are managing themselves well.

Hi-Rez also has experience bringing games over to the Xbox One, as Paladins is also available on Microsoft’s home gaming system, which means they also have experience working with the Xbox infrastructure. This is good news for fans, and it wouldn’t surprise us if we see news about the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version somewhere down the line. For now, though, we’ll steer clear of any real speculation, and await an official statement on the matter.
