Will Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria Release on Steam?

Exclusives can be tricky business.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria launched as an Epic Games Store exclusive, meaning it didn’t release on Steam, either. Will Return to Moria ever come to Steam, or are you better off buying it on the Epic Games Store?

Is Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria Coming to Steam?

Developer Free Range Games has yet to comment whether Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria will be coming to Steam. Following the game’s release on October 24 for the Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5, Return to Moria still doesn’t have a Steam store page.

Because of its exclusivity to the Epic shop, we can assume the game won’t come to Steam until much later. Previously, titles like Darkest Dungeon II and Metro Exodus were exclusively on the Epic Games Store before launching on Steam, so Return to Moria could get the same treatment. That said, more recent and popular exclusives don’t usually leave the platform unless the developer and Epic have something worked out behind the scenes.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria Steam Release Date Is Unknown

If Free Range Games is in talks to bring Return to Moria on Steam, we probably won’t hear about it until later. Unfortunately, the team’s silence on a Steam release date for Return to Moria has been received poorly by some players who don’t like the Epic Games Store.

“Hope it comes to Steam,” said one player on Reddit. “Looks like something I’d enjoy, but I don’t enjoy anything enough to give money to Sweeney.”

Another user had a similar sentiment, saying, “Yeah, no, not giving my money to Sweeney, dude literally allows NFT ‘games’ on his store.”

Not all fans feel this way. Others have decided to support the developers and purchase Return to Moria on the Epic Games Store or are choosing to wait for a Steam release. To be frank, nothing suggests the Steam launch will happen, but previous exclusives moving over from the Epic shop gives players hope Return to Moria will be the same.
