Questions about max party size and whether the game offers crossplay crop up a lot, as does the question of who created Fall Guys.

Many know the game was published by Devolver Digital, but who are the developers?

Who Created Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout?

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout was created by Mediatonic, one of the largest independent game studios in the UK.

The studio was founded by Brunel University students Paul Croft and Dave Bailey who released their first game, Snowman Salvage, back in 2005.

The game went viral at the time of release, drawing in over 2 million hits. Over the last 15 years, Mediatonic has released a number of successful mobile apps and creative indie titles.

For example, Mediatonic was one of the developers who worked on Hatoful Boyfriend. Mediatonic also joined Flaming Fowl Studios in developing Fable Fortune, a free-to-play card game set in the Fable universe.

Recently, Mediatonic joined The Coalition in working on Gears Pop! and Mediatonic worked solo on the indie title Murder By Numbers which released back in March of this year.

If you haven’t had the chance to play Murder By Numbers yet, we highly recommend it. Murder By Numbers is a murder mystery game set in the 90s that incorporates Picross as a way to help analyze clues.

The writing of the game is phenomenal, and if you’re a fan of Picross, you’ll love the number of fun, engaging Picross puzzles the game has on offer.

As for Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, the game was announced back at E3 2019. In June of 2019, a post on Sony’s blog noted that Fall Guys would be a console exclusive on PS4.

Publisher Devolver Digital has done a wonderful job in promoting Fall Guys following its E3 2019 announcement, as has Mediatonic’s social media guru who helped the Fall Guys Twitter account reach a whopping 300k followers on Twitter.

For what would be categorized as an indie game, reaching 300k followers on Twitter is seriously impressive. Having Fall Guys be available for free as part of PS Plus is clever as well.

With the overwhelming, massive success of the game, Fall Guys has had a few server issues.

It’s important to keep in mind that even though Fall Guys is one of the biggest games of 2020, it’s still an indie game made by an indie team.

A similar situation happened earlier this year when Temtem launched on Steam – so many people were interested in playing Temtem that servers got flooded and no one could get into the game.

It was a tricky situation for indie developer Crema. However, Crema worked hard to resolve these server issues and were eventually able to do so.

With that knowledge, we’re positive Mediatonic will likewise resolve any and all server issues for Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout.

Again, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout was created by the independent studio, Mediatonic, and published by Devolver Digital.

If you love what Mediatonic has done with Fall Guys, we highly recommend checking some of their other titles, like Murder By Numbers.
