Cat School Gear, also called Feline Gear, is a light Witcher gear set built around fast attacks, mobility, and offensive bonuses. The full progression includes Standard, Enhanced, Superior, Mastercrafted, and Grandmaster versions, with separate diagrams for the armor pieces and weapons.

Cat School Gear progresses through five tiers, starting with the Standard Feline set and ending with Grandmaster gear in Blood and Wine.

The Cat School Gear is an armor and weapons set you can obtain relatively early in the game, and it is quite useful too.
Every item in the Cat School Gear set in Witcher 3:
- Feline Steel Sword
- Feline Silver Sword
- Feline Armor
- Feline Boots
- Feline Gauntlets
- Feline Trousers
- Feline Crossbow
The Crossbow is an exception to the normal level progression and requires Level 29 to equip even though it belongs to the base Feline collection.
Each armor and sword tier requires the previous one, so you need the earlier version of the items before you can craft its Enhanced, Superior, Mastercrafted, or Grandmaster upgrade.
How to Start Scavenger Hunt: Cat School Gear
You do not need to buy a map before collecting Cat School Gear. If you travel directly to the diagram locations, picking them up will start or progress the corresponding scavenger hunt automatically. The maps are still useful because reading them adds the relevant Scavenger Hunt: Cat School Gear quests to your journal and gives you objective markers for the diagrams.

For the Standard Cat School Gear, you can simply begin collecting the base diagrams around Velen and Novigrad. The first Adalbert Kermith map is primarily tied to the first set of upgrade diagrams rather than being required to obtain the original Feline equipment.
Standard Feline Gear Locations
Standard Feline Steel Sword
The diagram for the Feline Steel Sword can be found at Drahim Castle. Once you enter the castle, the diagram can be found within a chest in the basement.
Standard Feline Silver Sword
Head to Est Tayiar in Velen. Once in the ruins, drop down to the bottom floor. Use your Aard sign to destroy the wall on the right, where a diagram will be revealed.
Standard Feline Crossbow
The Feline Crossbow diagram is found on the Flying Stag, a shipwreck off the western coast of Novigrad near the Lighthouse.
Swim out to the wreck and climb aboard, then head below deck to find the chest containing the diagram. The Feline Crossbow requires Level 29 to equip, even though it belongs to the Standard Cat School Gear set.
Unlike the Feline armor and swords, the crossbow does not have Enhanced, Superior, Mastercrafted, or Grandmaster versions, so this is the only Feline Crossbow diagram you need to collect.
Standard Feline Armor
Probably the most crucial part of this set is the Feline Armor. Locating the armor diagram is not easy, and probably the most challenging diagram to find out of the entire Cat School Gear set. Head to the Elector’s Square Waypoint. This area can be located within the Temple Isle, north of Novigrad. From there, you will find an entrance to a basement. Head down to the bottom, follow the path to the end, and you will find the Feline Armor diagram.

Enhanced Cat School Gear Locations
The Enhanced Feline Gear set can be equipped at Level 23. There are six diagrams to collect: four armor pieces, a steel sword, and a silver sword. The Feline Crossbow does not have an Enhanced upgrade. You can check the link for the complete details for the Cat School Diagrams Enhanced quest.
Enhanced Feline Silver Sword
The Enhanced Feline Silver Sword diagram is inside a house in Novigrad near the Oxenfurt Gate.
Enter the city from the gate, climb onto the nearby ledge, and use the stairs to get inside the house. Head upstairs to find the diagram inside a chest in the room.
Enhanced Feline Armor
The Enhanced Feline Armor diagram is at Aeramas’ Abandoned Manor in eastern Velen near the Oxenfurt Gate.
Head into the ruined building and climb to the upper floor. The chest containing the diagram is beside a large bookshelf near the top.
Enhanced Feline Boots
The Enhanced Feline Boots diagram is inside a large cave east of Toderas.
Enter the cave and keep to the right while using Witcher Senses. The diagram is inside a chest a short distance from the entrance.
Enhanced Feline Steel Sword
The Enhanced Feline Steel Sword diagram is inside another cave southwest of Toderas, near Reardon Manor.
Head inside and continue past the bear carcass near the entrance. The chest containing the diagram is only a short distance farther into the cave.
Enhanced Feline Trousers
The Enhanced Feline Trousers diagram is hidden beneath a house in Oxenfurt. Head straight from the Novigrad gate towards the custom marker in the image below.
Enter the building and take the stairs down into the underground passage. Use Witcher Senses to find an interactable brick on the wall, which opens a hidden passage containing the chest with the diagram.
Enhanced Feline Gauntlets
The Enhanced Feline Gauntlets diagram is at Codgers’ Quarry, northeast of Hanged Man’s Tree.
If this is your first visit, you may need to deal with the enemies that appear around the quarry. Head into the mine afterward and follow the short passage until you reach the chest containing the diagram.

Superior Cat School Gear Locations
The Superior Feline Gear set can be equipped at Level 29. There are three diagram locations to visit; find the silver sword, the steel sword, and one chest containing all four armor diagrams. You can check the link for the complete details on the Cat School Diagrams Superior quest.
Superior Feline Silver Sword
The Superior Feline Silver Sword diagram is inside a cave east of Ursten.
Enter the cave and follow the main path until you reach the chamber containing the diagram chest. The area can contain hostile monsters, so clear the cave before searching the back section for the blueprint.
Superior Feline Armor, Boots, Gauntlets, and Trousers
All four Superior Feline armor diagrams are found together in a single chest southwest of Dragonslayer’s Grotto.
The chest is guarded by a troll, so defeat it first, then loot the container to collect the Superior Feline Armor, Boots, Gauntlets, and Trousers diagrams at once.
This makes the armor portion of the Superior set much quicker to complete than the Enhanced tier, where every armor diagram is found separately.
Superior Feline Steel Sword
The Superior Feline Steel Sword diagram is inside a cavern north of Novigrad.
Head into the cave and follow the passage until you reach the diagram chest. Once you have this and the silver sword blueprint, you will have every Superior Feline diagram needed to upgrade the full set.

Mastercrafted Cat School Gear Locations

Mastercrafted Feline Steel Sword
The Mastercrafted Feline Steel Sword diagram is found on Ard Skellig, inside the ruins of Kaer Gelen.
Enter the ruins and work your way through the interior until you reach the upper section. The diagram is inside a chest near the stairs.
Mastercrafted Feline Silver Sword
The Mastercrafted Feline Silver Sword diagram is found on Faroe, east of Harviken.
Head to the monster den in the area and explore the cave until you reach the chest containing the diagram.
Mastercrafted Feline Armor, Boots, Gauntlets, and Trousers
All four Mastercrafted Feline armor diagrams are found together in a cave south-southwest of Trottheim on Faroe.
Enter the cave and follow it through to the chamber containing the diagram chest. Loot it to receive the Mastercrafted Feline Armor, Boots, Gauntlets, and Trousers diagrams at the same time.
You need the corresponding Superior Feline pieces to craft these Mastercrafted upgrades.

Grandmaster Cat School Gear Locations
The Grandmaster Feline Gear set is available in the Blood and Wine expansion and can be equipped at Level 40. The six diagrams are split across three locations in northern Toussaint: Villa Vedette, Arthach Palace Ruins, and The Pits of Brume.
You can start Scavenger Hunt: Grandmaster Feline Gear by speaking to Lazare Lafargue in Beauclair, although finding any of the diagrams while exploring will also start the hunt. Unlike the earlier upgrade tiers, Grandmaster gear must be crafted by Lazare Lafargue, the Grandmaster Smith in Beauclair.
Grandmaster Feline Armor
The Grandmaster Feline Armor diagram is at Villa Vedette, east of the Arthach Palace Ruins.
The main gate is locked, so move around the outside wall until you find wooden scaffolding that lets you climb into the estate. Clear out the bandits, enter the house near the gate, and search behind the painting on the wall to find the diagram.
Grandmaster Feline Trousers and Boots
The Grandmaster Feline Trousers and Grandmaster Feline Boots diagrams are together at the Arthach Palace Ruins, which serves as a heavily guarded bandit base with around 50 level 40 enemies.
Fight or work your way through the bandits and climb to the upper section of the ruins. The chest containing both diagrams is near the signal fire on the elevated platform.
Grandmaster Feline Steel Sword, Silver Sword, and Gauntlets
The remaining three diagrams are inside The Pits of Brume, a cave south of the Arthach Palace Ruins.
Enter the cave and clear the monsters inside, then continue to the back and loot the satchel containing the Grandmaster Feline Steel Sword, Silver Sword, and Gauntlets diagrams.

Grandmaster Feline Gear also unlocks two set bonuses:
- 3 pieces: Strong Attacks increase Fast Attack damage for 5 seconds by 10% for each equipped Grandmaster Feline piece.
- 6 pieces: Rear attacks deal 50% more damage and can stun the target at the cost of 1 Adrenaline Point.
