As you hop onto your PlayStation, Xbox or PC to play Hogwarts Legacy, there are a few things to think about. One is to make sure you have enough storage, while the other is preloading if you’re on a console. Even with these in mind, you may have heard information about a patch floating around the internet and wonder when that’ll affect your download. If you’re interested in learning more, continue reading to discover when Hogwarts Legacy is getting its first official patch.
When is Hogwarts Legacy Getting Patched?
This initial Hogwarts Legacy update, commonly known as the Day One Patch, will be available right when you download and play the game for the first time. The patch comes with the base game and will appear as Hogwarts Legacy opens up. This also means that the times differ slightly depending on whether you have Deluxe or Standard Edition and which platform you’re on since there are multiple release dates and times for early access.
Similarly, if you bought the physical version of Hogwarts Legacy instead, you’ll have to connect to the internet to download this patch before you can hop into the game. You’ll also have to reconnect to the internet for any subsequent updates that launch in the future.

This patch primarily features bug fixes and performance improvements for when you initially start the game. However, this also means that, as more people play and report bugs, future patches may release to address these issues. This’ll also be the case if more content, including limited-time events and DLCs, are implemented into Hogwarts Legacy.
Hogwarts Legacy will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch through the official website.
