When Does the Toy Day Event Start in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

You get a toy, and you get a toy, everyone gets a toy.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is getting not one, but two holiday events. The first is Turkey Day, and the second is Toy Day. If you want to make sure you’re prepped and ready for each event, you may be asking when the Toy Day event is scheduled to begin and whether you can time travel and participate in the event early.

To help simplify everything, here’s a quick overview of what we know about the Toy Day event so far in Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

When Does the Toy Day Event Start in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

The quick answer to the question of when the Toy Day event starts in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is on Thursday, December 24. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to time travel to December 24 and start the event early.

Similar to the Turkey Day event, the Toy Day event will remain locked until December 24 rolls around. If Toy Day is like Turkey Day, the event should begin around 9 a.m. (you local time). As for what the Toy Day event will consist of, it’ll bring a new visitor to your island… Jingle the Reindeer!

Given the Christmas vibes of the event, it’s fitting that the main activity will consist of you giving presents to your villagers.

If you want to dress the part, it’s worth noting that Able Sisters will begin to sell winter items starting December 1 so you may be able to piece together a Santa-themed outfit before the Toy Day event begins on December 24.

It’s not required to participate in Toy Day, but it’s a quaint idea nevertheless. You’ll also be able to purchase holiday toys and items from Nook’s Cranny starting December 1 as well which can help make your island look bright, cheerful, and festive.

As a reward for being a good Santa, Jingle will in turn give you gifts in the form of special Animal Crossing items and furniture. We know less about the specific types of items and furniture you’ll receive for Toy Day, but we’re assuming it’ll fit with the Christmas and winter theme of the holiday season.

Something else to note is that if you shake your trees during the December season, you may find holiday ornaments which can be used to craft Christmas items as well. Ornaments will only drop from decorated cedar trees.

The decorated ones are easy to spot as they have lights on them, while non-decorated cedar trees are completely plain. We recommend planting more cedar trees around your island if you only have a handful.

The more cedar trees you have, the more ornaments you can harvest. To recap, the Toy Day event will begin on December 24 at 9 a.m. (local time) in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

You won’t be able to time travel to that time and start the event early. To prepare for the winter festivities, you can go around and plant more cedar trees if you don’t have all that many on your island as the decorated cedar trees will drop ornaments which can be used to craft holiday items.

You can also visit Able Sisters and Nook’s Cranny in December and purchase holiday items ahead of the Toy Day event on December 24.
