Following its announcement on June 18, Fortnite players have been left patiently waiting for the start of the Thanos Cup. Well, the wait is over as the Thanos Cup is actually scheduled to begin today (as of the time of this writing) on Monday, June 21.
Wondering what the exact start times are and how to participate? Here’s a closer look at the Thanos Cup in Fortnite!
What Time is the Thanos Cup in Fortnite?
The Thanos Cup is set to begin on June 21 and will last for three hours, running from 1:00 p.m. your local time until 4:00 p.m. your local time. For us, the Thanos Cup is live as of the time of this writing on June 21 as it’s currently 3:00 p.m. (EST) our local time.
The event is for Duos as outlined in the event description provided by Epic Games in a Fortnite blog post.
“Grab your Duos partner and compete in up to 10 total matches in 3 hours to earn as many points as you can. The top-performing teams in each region will earn the Thanos Outfit and Back Bling inspired by Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame.
For anyone who earns 8 total points, you’ll receive the Thanos Watches! Spray. Note: It may take several days before prizing can be rewarded to all players.”
In order to participate in the Thanos Cup, interested players are required to have an Epic Account at level 30 and 2FA (two-factor authentication) set up on that account. While participating, teams will be able to jump into a maximum of ten matches during the Thanos Cup from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. local time.
During those matches, players can earn points based on a scoring system which can be found by reviewing the full rules page for the Thanos Cup.
A quick refresher in regards to the points system is that a Victory Royale is worth 42 points, second place is 36 points, third is 32 points, and as long as you’re 50th place or higher, you’ll earn points even if it’s just 1 point for 50th place. Additionally, each elimination is worth 1 point.
Winners will be selected based on where they rank from the points they earned during the Thanos Cup. Ranks are based on region, and we’ve included the rank system for each region below as provided by Epic Games in the full rules page for the Thanos Cup.

In the event you’re unable to participate in the Thanos Cup, rest assured that Thanos will hit the Item Shop at 5:00 p.m. (PST) and 8:00 p.m. (EST) on Saturday, June 26.
When Thanos becomes available on the Item Shop, you’ll be able to grab the Thanos Outfit and Infinity Gauntlet Back Bling with the value of these items being approximately $20 (USD).
“Approximate retail value (“ARV”) of “Thanos” In-Game Cosmetic Outfit and Back Bling is $20 USD. The “Thanos Watches!” Cosmetic Spray has no retail value as it is not offered for purchase by Epic.”
To quickly recap, the Thanos Cup begins June 21 at 1:00 p.m. your local time and ends at 4:00 p.m. your local time. During the event, you’ll be able to jump into Duos matches and earn points based on where you place in a match (Victory Royale being worth 42 points) and how many eliminations you score (with each elimination worth 1 point).
Winners are based on regional rank. For example, if you place 1 – 600th in the NA West region, you’re a winner. And even if you don’t win, there’s a participation prize in the form of the “Thanos Watches!” Cosmetic Spray which can be earned by anyone so long as they earn at least 8 points in the Thanos Cup.
