How to Get the Old Rattle-Drum Item in Black Myth Wukong

To get the Old Rattle-Drum item in Black Myth: Wukong, you must defeat the Tiger’s Acolyte boss in Chapter 2 of the game. You will find the boss guarding a bridge when you progress further from the Windrest Hamlet shrine.

Upon defeating the Tiger’s Acolyte boss, you will get Yarn, Silk, Blood of the Iron Bull, his spirit, and most importantly, the Old Rattle-Drum item.

How to Use the Old Rattle-Drum Item in Black Myth Wukong

To use the Old Rattle-Drum item, you need to go to three areas in Chapter 2, where you will be prompted to use the item. Upon using the item in all three areas, you will unlock a secret boss fight.

Here are the three locations where you need to use the Old Rattle-Drum item:

Windrest Hamlet

From the Windrest Hamlet shrine, go back to the place where you faced the three Rat Imperial Guard enemies sitting on top of the gate. Turn to the left to enter the area with houses.

Everything around you will become blurry and dark, and you will hear the voice of a kid asking you to use the drum. Press the prompted button on your screen to play the drum. You will get attacked by the enemies in the surrounding area. Defeat the enemies and go back to the shrine when the dialogue ends.

Valley of Despair

The second location is at the Sandgate Village, just ahead of the Valley of Despair shrine. You will get to this shrine after you defeat the Rat King and the Second Prince of the Flowing Sands. Use the tally near the gate entrance to get to the village.

Once you go down the stairs, look to your right before the Spearbone enemy guarding the bridge. There is an area with some houses on your right where you will use the Old Rattle-Drum.

Valley of Despair – Last Location

The third and final location is at the back side of the village. From the Valley of Despair shrine, go back to the main center area of the village and look for a doorway in the corner, as pointed in the picture. Once you enter the back side of the village, you will face the Earth Wolf mini-boss.

In that area near the structure with an altar inside, there is a wooden fence that you can go through.

Once on the other side, you will be prompted to use the Old Rattle-Drum. It will play a cutscene where you will now see the kid jumping in the well. Follow the kid to get to the secret area.

Once at the bottom of the well, you will face the Mad Tiger boss. He is the younger brother of the Tiger Vanguard boss but has a different fighting style to him. Instead of a sword, the Mad Tiger boss uses hand-to-hand combat. His attacks are slow, but they hit really hard. Wait for him to execute his attack before you dodge, or else you will get hit by his delayed attacks.

After you have defeated the boss, you can capture its spirit, which lets you transform into him and roar at the surrounding enemies, dealing AoE damage.

And that is all for this guide. If you are looking for more secret quests like this, then look into how to get to the secret area in Chapter 2 of Black Myth: Wukong.
