Wendigo Destiny 2 Guide: Getting the Wendigo-GL3

For those not already in the know, the Wendigo GL-3 is the Vanguard Pinnacle weapon for the Season of Opulence. It’s a grenade launcher that packs one hell of a punch, and it’s pretty damn spectacular. It’s a Powerful weapon, and its perk is Explosive Light – getting an Orb of Light increases the next grenade’s blast radius and damage.

To start the process of getting your hands on it, you need to pick up the quest called A Gift for the Worthy from Zavala. Completing A Gift for the Worthy involves doing the following in playlist strikes with a Grenade Launcher:

  • 1,500 final blows
  • 500 multikills
  • Earning a set amount of points (final blows give you the most bang for your, uh, bangs)

We haven’t run the exact numbers on the enemies that you need to take down to actually fulfill Zavala’s requirements, but we’re betting that they’re in the thousands. Plus, like a lot of other Pinnacle weapon quests that involve filling an arbitrary meter with weapon use points, dying will knock you back a few steps each time. If you had an entire Season to get this weapon and you’re just wrapping up now, then you’ll probably have felt like the requirements were spaced out enough.

However, not everyone’s got the luxury of time. Here’s a little insider tip for you: farm the opening stages of Escalation Protocol, Mars Strikes, and Blind Well with people who know that you’re trying to do. Instead of pushing forward in the respective Strikes, phase out and start over. This is much quicker than wasting time running fully through Strikes, even though it will require you to have people along who are wise to you wanting to get the Wendigo. Because you need to get final blows, it’ll have to be mates that know and who won’t try to kill-steal you.

Now that you have our Wendigo Destiny 2 guide at hand, as well as our suggestion on how to get it that won’t take all season since you’re likely just looking for things to do in the lead-up to Shadowkeep, you can get started as soon as you can stomach the grind. Need another weapon to occupy you? Our The Supremacy Destiny 2 guide might be up your alley.
