Warframe: How to Get the Rime Rounds Mod

Strange name for a Cold mod but hey, can't argue its effectiveness.

While some mods in Warframe can be quite worthless, other mods can transform your build from good to great. Here’s how to get the Rime Rounds mod in Warframe.

Where to Find the Rime Rounds Mod in Warframe

Rime Rounds can be found as a random drop from Rotation C of the Spy mode’s mission rewards. However, this is only for certain nodes and not others. The following nodes have a chance to give the Rime Rounds mod on Rotation C:

  • Bode, Ceres
  • Amalthea, Jupiter
  • Valac, Europa
  • Dione, Saturn
  • Pavlov, Lua

The first four locations have a 5.64% chance to drop Rime Rounds on Rotation C, while the Lua node has a 7.37% chance to drop the mod. However, given how difficult Lua Spy missions can be, this shouldn’t be done unless you’re proficient with the various vaults that can spawn.

As for how you can get Rotation C, Rotations in Spy missions are based on the amount of vaults successfully cleared. To that end, you’ll need to clear all three vaults on a Spy mission to get the Rotation C reward. You’ll get the Rotation A and B rewards as well, so getting all three vaults will get you three rewards. With a little time and a handful of attempts, Rime Rounds should be yours.

What Does Rime Rounds Do in Warframe?

Rime Rounds provides a 60% increase to Cold damage while also giving a 60% increase to Status Chance, meaning the Cold effect can proc more often (or at all if you don’t already have Status Chance). This can exclusively go on rifles, so you’ll want it on something that can proc Status Effects often. I remember having Rime Rounds on my Amprex back when that was one of my main weapons. Not the only use case, but a particularly good one.
