A lot of Transformers fans have been eagerly anticipating Transformers Devastation. The marketing for the game boasted the five playable Autobots: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack and Grimlock. However, when you first open up the game and begin to play, you will only have access to Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Sideswipe. In fact, you have to get through the first few missions in Chapter One before you can even select the Autobot you want to play as.
Any Generation One Transformers fan is going to want a crack at Grimlock, and there are plenty of Wheeljack fans out there as well. We’ve broken down all five playable characters and both Grimlock and Wheeljack are among the best characters in the game. Luckily, we’re here to let you know exactly when you can play as Grimlock and Wheeljack so you don’t get too worries when you boot up the game for the first time.
To unlock Wheeljack in Transformers Devastation simply complete the first chapter of the game on any difficulty. This includes quite a few missions, so do not mistake completing a mission with completing Chapter One.
To unlock Grimlock in Transformers Devastation, successfully complete Chapter Two on any difficulty setting. Once again, missions are not the same as chapters. The game will notify you at the completion of both missions and chapters, so don’t be surprised when you complete the second mission and Grimlock is not playable yet.
Once you’ve unlocked either character, you must head back to the Ark to change characters. The Ark is represented by a glowing Autobot symbol hovering slightly above ground. Interact with this symbol to bring up the Ark menu where you can equip weapons and tech, synthesize new weapons and switch characters. This is where you can select Grimlock, Wheeljack or any of the other characters. In most cases there’s an Ark point just before a boss battle and scattered in several places throughout each chapter in the game.
