The Finals is finally giving solo players a dedicated game mode in Season 12, and it’s quite different from the usual Cashout experience. Solo Showdown is a new tournament mode featuring 12 contestants competing across a randomized selection of mini-games, with eliminations after each round until only one player remains.

Here’s everything you need to know about Solo Showdown in The Finals, including its tournament format, rules, and all eight mini-games.

How Does Solo Showdown Work in The Finals?

Solo Showdown is a three-round tournament featuring 12 solo players competing to earn as much cash as possible. Each tournament has three randomly selected mini-games, with every round lasting approximately five minutes. At the end of each round, the four contestants with the lowest cash totals are eliminated.

Here’s how the tournament progresses:

RoundPlayersEliminated
Round 112 playersBottom 4
Round 28 playersBottom 4
Round 34 playersChampion crowned

Solo Showdown also features unlimited respawns and fixed loadouts for individual mini-games. Instead of worrying about team compositions or coordination, you have to focus on just your own performance for every mini-game.

All Mini-Games in The Finals Solo Showdown

There are currently eight mini-games in Solo Showdown. Here’s a breakdown of every mini-game, its rules, and the equipment available.

Heavy Hitters

Heavy Hitters is a returning limited-time mode where your objective is to knock other players out of the arena. The mode takes place on RELAY GRID, with every contestant using a Heavy build equipped with a Sledgehammer and Charge ‘N’ Slam.

Attacks apply knockback to opponents, and the lower their health, the farther they’re launched. This makes positioning particularly important, as a well-timed attack near the edge can send someone flying out of the arena.

Heavy Hitters Loadout:

  • Build: Heavy
  • Specialization: Charge ‘N’ Slam
  • Weapon: Sledgehammer
  • Gadgets: Jump Pad, Anti-Gravity Cube, Healing Emitter

Gadgets have reduced cooldowns, and players can respawn after just five seconds. The Sledgehammer also has more knockback.

Blast Off!

Blast Off! is played on Bernal, and this mode keeps Low Gravity and Double Jump active throughout the match. Contestants use a modified CL-40 grenade launcher with increased damage and magazine capacity. Expect plenty of aerial combat and lots of explosions.

Blast Off! Loadout:

  • Build: Medium
  • Specialization: Evasive Dash
  • Weapon: CL-40
  • Gadgets: APS Turret, Jump Pad, RPG-7

Everyone also gets an Evasive Dash for fancy aerial movements, an APS Turret for defense, and an RPG-7 for even more explosions.

Winch Wars

Winch Wars is one of the new mini-games introduced with Solo Showdown, taking place above the void in NOZOMI CITADEL. Every contestant is equipped with an enhanced Winch Claw and a powerful melee kick. The objective is straightforward: every player you see, pull them off or kick them off the map.

Is Solo Showdown a Permanent Game Mode in The Finals?

Yes, Solo Showdown is a new core game mode in Season 12, instead of just a traditional limited-time event.

Embark Studios also plans to expand the mode with additional mini-games and tournament formats in the future. The current selection of eight mini-games is only the beginning, and the developers have already announced that they will be adding more.

For players tired of relying on random teammates, Solo Showdown is a great casual game mode that lets you enjoy the solo experience. It also gives several creative limited-time modes a permanent home, instead of leaving them unavailable for months between events.
