The Best WoW Dragonflight Season 3 Mythic+ Levels to Run for IO and Gear

Whose key is it anyway?

Mythic+ Dungeons, with last season’s changes to gear upgrades, take a little more consideration than simply running +2’s ad nauseam and skyrocketing your gear to pinnacle item levels in WoW Dragonflight. So, how hard should you push yourself if you’re looking for some sweet gear?

The Best Mythic Level to Run for Rating (aka IO)

If you’re looking to boost your own Mythic+ rating, particularly so you look more appealing to LFG groups when they’re looking for folks to invite, I’d suggest running +13 Mythic dungeons.

A level 13 key is the “easiest” mid-range level of Mythic+ dungeon for one simple reason: you only have to worry about two affixes. One will be either Tyrannical or Fortified, which boosts bosses or minions, respectively, and the other will be from the usual suspect list. You can check the current affixes on this handy site.

Not having to deal with a third affix is such a meaningful difficulty difference, particularly on gnarly weeks with, say, Bursting.

The Best Mythic Level to Run for Gear

If you’re looking for some good mid-end game gear, I’d suggest running +9 Mythic dungeons. This will guarantee you “Champion” track loot, which can be upgraded all the way to 476 item level. It’s a great track for players looking to pug (like myself), since the next tier, Hero, doesn’t start dropping until +17 level keys. These are… not something I would suggest tackling until you have a regular group of friends or some seriously hefty gear (about 465 item level).

And remember, doing mythic dungeons of any level will still get you Dreaming Crests for gear upgrades, as well as a guarantee at loot in your Great Vault the following week.

These pieces are excellent fodder for the Revival Catalyst, which can turn them into tier pieces – an essential power-boost for your class. For more info on transforming gear into tier pieces, check out our Revival Catalyst guide!
