How to Defeat the Octo Oven

With all three Zapfish collected, make your way to the center of the Tentakeel Outpost and interact with the Boss Kettle. This will drop you directly into the boss level, where you’ll find yourself facing down a massive oven with several sets of eyes.

The Octo Oven isn’t just a silly name, either, as the boss’s main form of attack will be to spit out loaves of bread at the player in an attempt to knock them out of the arena. Keep moving around the stage, though, and avoid and loaves as they come shooting out, and you shouldn’t have too much trouble.

The key to taking this boss down is to make your way all the way up to the top, where you can attack a lone tentacle hanging out. This is the only real clue to the Octarians involvement in the Octo Oven boss fight, and you’ll need to give them a nice shot of your Ink to set ‘em straight.

Keep avoiding the loaves until the Octo Oven jumps into the area, and then when it plunges back down onto the ground, all the loaves will shoot out, allowing you to ink them and climb up.

Start climbing, and make your way all the way up to the top. Be quick about it, though, as the loaves could slap back inside at any time. Once you’re at the top, locate the tentacle in the middle of the oven, and shoot it with your Ink gun. This will cause it to explode, shooting you off the oven and back into the area.

At this point the fight becomes a bit more complicated, as the Octo Oven will introduce several ink wells around the platform that shoot purple ink into the air. Don’t hit these, as they’ll hurt you. Instead, keep moving around the arena, avoiding the boss until it pops out all of the loaves again. You’ll probably notice at this point that there aren’t as many loaves to climb, so look for the best way up, and make it back to the top. Once at the top, shoot the tentacle again to make it explode.

Now it’s all down to the final round. At this point the Octo Oven will start attacking with a shower-like ink attack that you’ll need to avoid at all costs. Avoid it, and keep moving around the arena until the loaves all shoot out again, then swim up the side and take out the tentacle one last time. The loaves will have some metallic armor on them, though, which may make climbing up a bit tougher to pull off.
