Should you take a chance on the Daily Expeditions in Against the Storm? Here’s your question answered.
Should You Do Daily Expeditions in Against the Storm? – Answered
In short, yes, you should do Daily Expeditions! Daily Expeditions offer an assortment of benefits with very few downsides, especially if you need rare resources.
Once you reach level 6 in the Obsidian Archives, you’ll find that you have a new game mode available to you: Daily Expeditions. But are Daily Expeditions worth it over normal settlements in Against the Storm?
You can unlock Daily Expeditions in the Smoldering City, and through this mode, you get a new challenge each day. A special map on one of the game’s biomes, with embark bonuses and three modifiers (one positive, two negative). Before you can embark, you can choose which difficulty you want to tackle, and the rewards you get for completing the Daily Expedition will scale accordingly.
You get the same number of resources for an Expedition as you would for winning any other settlement built near a modifier, but there are no unique unlocks or rewards for playing this mode.
Here are the benefits you’ll get for completing a Daily Expedition:
- Rare resources, like Machinery and Artifacts.
- Unlocking City Upgrades is much faster using the Daily Expedition, as it guarantees upgrade resources.
- Novel variations on the normal settlements.
Completing Daily Expeditions also counts towards the time until the next storm.
If you do opt to tackle the Daily Expedition, it’s a good idea to do it as the last settlement before the Blightstorm. This will ensure that no factions take up a space that you might have had plans for.
However, if you’ve found that tools and machinery aren’t an issue, which it shouldn’t be if you’re focusing on seals and points of interest on the map, there’s really no need to tackle these Daily Expeditions unless you enjoy doing them. Likewise, some variations of Daily Expeditions can be very difficult, which can make them hard to complete.
But ultimately, Daily Expeditions are just there to add a bit of gameplay nuance to the game.
