In Remnant 2, Amalgam Kel’Roth and Amalgam Relis are twin bosses with identical attack patterns that block your progress in the Dark Horizon DLC. While the first phase of the fight is somewhat easier, the difficulty spikes when the second boss joins the battle. In this guide, we provide a detailed breakdown of both bosses’ attack patterns, tips on how to dodge them, and the best strategies for defeating them.
All Attack Patterns of Amalgam Kel’Roth and Amalgam Relis Boss in Remnant 2: The Dark Horizon
Attacks | Description |
---|---|
Metal Arm Combo | Since both bosses have a corrupted tentacle-like right arm, they use it to strike you it by leaping in the air and then landing where you stand. Avoid standing in one place, and you will not get hit by this attack. |
Black Water Tornado | The bosses launch a ranged attack called the Black Water Tornado, a fast-moving projectile that travels in a straight line. To avoid getting hit, dodge roll to either side as it approaches. |
Tentacle Smash | Amalgam Kel’Roth and Amalgam Relis will hover in the air at times and perform a hovering rush, where they fly in a straight line toward you. This attack can be easily avoided by dodging either the left or right side of the incoming attack. |
Tentacle Uppercut | While the left metal arm is used to execute a three-hit combo, both bosses often use the right tentacle arm to perform an uppercut as they rush toward you. |
Tentacle AoE | Instead of rushing towards you on the ground for a tentacle attack, sometimes the bosses mix this attack by flying towards you and landing with a tentacle ground smash attack, which leaves an electric AoE. This is a smaller AoE, but you need to dodge away to not get hit. |
Gravity Pull | Similar to casting the Black Water Tornado, both bosses perform a Black Water Wave. This attack is especially seen after you have depleted half of your health. Dodge inside the Black Water Wave to avoid getting hit by it. |
Hover Rush | Both bosses can also use their tentacle arms to summon a purple gravity pull spell. This spell tries to drag you toward it before exploding after a few seconds. As soon as you see this attack being cast, either dodge roll away, or keep running in the opposite direction to avoid the explosion. |
Electric Ground Smash Attack | Due to the bosses’ amalgamation of steel and corrupted flesh, they have a cylinder-like component at the back of their heads, which they use to perform a ground smash attack. This sends an electric wave forward, and the easiest way to dodge this attack is to roll towards the boss. |
Black Water Wave | Similar to casting the Black Water Tornado, both bosses perform a Black Water Wave. This attack can mostly be seen after you have depleted half of the bosses’ health. Dodge inside the Black Water Wave to avoid getting hit by it. |
Massive Black Tornado | In addition to the smaller Black Water Tornado, which moves fast in a straight line, the bosses can also cast a larger version known as the Massive Black Tornado. This one moves more slowly and is usually centered in the middle of the arena. If you’re caught in this attack, it will push you into the purple goo below, resulting in instant death. |

How to Beat Amalgam Kel’Roth and Amalgam Relis Boss in Remnant 2: The Dark Horizon
Even though the Amalgam Kel’Roth and Amalgam Relis is a duo boss fight in Remnant 2, the latter boss only appears after you have depleted more than 30 to 40 percent of the health of the former boss. The first part of the boss fight is easier and more manageable as you fight only Amalgam Kel’Roth. However, your positioning remains crucial during this early encounter.
When positioning yourself, be mindful of where you dodge roll in the boss arena. The purple boiling water below the platform where you fight the boss will kill you instantly if you fall into it. Even if you think Amalgam Kel’Roth is little threat until Amalgam Relis is summoned in the boss fight, try not to fall below the platform, or else you will need to restart the boss fight.
Avoid fighting the bosses while standing in the center of the arena, as it lacks any barriers to prevent you from falling to your death. Instead, regularly position yourself at either end of the platform, where metallic covers can stop you from falling off.
In addition to being aware of your surroundings, it’s crucial to equip a Long Gun as your primary weapon. I recommend you use the Deceit Long Gun as it is an excellent choice due to its high damage and decent rate of fire. Since the bosses frequently move in and out of range, this weapon will help you deal significant damage more efficiently.
While your guns will do most of the work, you’ll also need additional support to keep the bosses under control. For assistance, the Support Dog skill from the Handler Archetype is invaluable, as it increases your movement speed and can revive you.
Additionally, the Heavy Weapon Vulcan skill of Engineer Archetype is a fantastic option for extra damage in a short time. This skill allows you to deploy a turret that automatically tracks and shreds the bosses with its heavy ammo.
Rewards for Defeating Amalgam Kel’Roth and Amalgam Relis
After defeating the bosses, you will get the Voidlight Core item. You can use this item to craft the Voidlight Weapon Mod from Ava McCabe NPC in Ward 13.
With these tips we have mentioned above, you will be able to beat Amalgam Kel’Roth and Amalgam Relis easily in Remnant 2. Before you go, consider reading our: How to Unlock Warden Archetype, and How to Start Boss Rush Mode in Remnant 2 guides.
