Sell Unwanted Items

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an RPG, which means you’ll be spending a lot of time looting and collecting items throughout your journey. Your inventory has a carry limit, however, so at some point you are going to have to purge some of the items you’ve collected. Selling unwanted items is not only an easy way to clear out the clutter, but it can also net you some quick cash.

Sell Horses and Pelts

On a similar note, you can also sell horses that you encounter throughout the game (whether the horses are yours to sell or not). You can find and tame wild horses, or just outright steal them if you are feeling bold, and resell the horses you don’t want to a local Stable or to anyone willing to buy a new mount. If you’re particularly good at hunting, you can also exchange animal carcasses and pelts to a local butcher for a few bucks. Just make sure your kill is of high quality to ensure you get the best exchange rate.

Commit Robberies

Of course, you wouldn’t be much of an outlaw if you didn’t commit a few robberies every now and again. Whether you’re robbing a stagecoach, a train, or the clerk at the local General Store, there’s plenty of ways to steal cash in Red Dead Redemption 2. Robberies can increase your bounty though, so think carefully about who or what you’re robbing and consider whether the risk is worth lining your pockets before going through with the crime.

Fence Stolen Goods

As an outlaw, theft is a regular part of your everyday dealings in Red Dead Redemption 2. As you accumulate jewelry or other valuable stolen items, you can sell them to a Fence to make some extra money. Fences are merchants that deal in stolen goods, and you can find them in most cities and towns.

Take on Wanted Bounties

If you don’t want to deal with having a bounty on your head, then you can opt to fulfill other people’s bounties instead. The Sheriff’s office each town will usually have a Wanted poster hanging on the wall, and there’s usually a reward for retrieving the wanted person. Make sure to increase your Honor to boost the reward you get for completing bounties.

Complete Missions and Quests

There are plenty of opportunities to earn money just by playing through the main story missions in the game. Some quests lead to a huge payout, so head out on a few missions the next time you’re strapped for cash in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Whether you’re looking to make a quick buck or want to save up for a new piece of gear you’ve had your eye on, you should be able to get the money you need by following the tips above. Make sure to check out our other Red Dead Redemption 2 guides for more gameplay tips and tutorials.
