The world of Rage 2 is absolutely huge and getting around it on foot would take an exorbitant amount of time. There are a few different vehicles for you to get behind the wheel of, but the way to unlock them varies from vehicle to vehicle. While some can be unlocked by progressing the Projects you can work on or by finishing story missions, the non-Ark vehicles need a specific upgrade before you can make them your own.

If you go into your menu and select the Projects tab you will be presented with a list of different Projects to upgrade. The one we want to unlock is in the Basic Project and it is called Vehicle Extension. Once you’ve unlocked this one you can start taking the cars and tanks you find in the wasteland back to one of the Trade Towns to unlock it. You even get a few Auto Parts for your trouble to sweeten the deal.

The full list of vehicles and unlocks looks like this:

  • Phoenix: Automatically unlocked after the prologue
  • Raptor: Get to level 10 in the Capture & Control Project
  • Icarus: Get to level 7 in the Search & Recover Project
  • Chazcar: Finish the Chazcar Derby in the Wellspring storyline
