With the announcement of the new Pokemon Sword and Shield DLC at this morning’s Pokemon Direct, there’s been the pleasant discovery that on top of a whole bunch of new Legendaries (we’ve collected them all in this post for you), we’re also going to have Gigantamax forms of the starter Pokemon to enjoy. Pokemon Sword and Shield Gigantamax Rillaboom – What We Know

Rillaboom, as you may have already guessed, is the final evolution of Grookey. It’s one of the Pokemon that’s going to receive a Gigantamax form later this year, likely when the Isle of Armor DLC drops in June 2020. That being said, Gigantamax Rillaboom looks like one impressive ape, and we’re not just talking about their drum skills.

According to the official Pokemon Sword and Shield website, Gigantamax Rillaboom can get as big as 91’10” which is, well, frankly terrifying. Apparently, the sound produced by Rillaboom’s beats while in this final form are able to be heard by those living in other regions, which would be supremely impressive if not for the fact that its drumkit is now apparently a literal living forest. When you’re operating on that scale, what’s a few cross-country soundwaves?

On top of that, those who fall mercy to its song will have no choice but to dance. Actually, the more that we learn about Pokemon Sword and Shield Gigantamax Rillaboom, the more we’re convinced that it’s actually some kind of eldritch horror sent to Galar to cleanse it of everything good. Well, I guess we’ll just have to see when the DLC rolls around.
