Sword and Shield have brought a variety of new features to the Pokemon franchise. One of these new features is the Gigantamax form that some creatures have the ability to transform into when fighting. The ghostly character of Gengar is one of these creatures that can utilize the power of a Gigantamax form. However, the real power of Gigantamax Gengar is bone-chilling. Fortunately for those interested in the creepy background of this particular character, we have everything you need to know covered.

Trainers will notice that Gengar turns into a giant mouth when he enters his Gigantamax form. According to the Pokedex entry for this new version of the ghost character, Gengar’s mouth becomes a portal to the afterlife in this form and that you can hear the voices of your loved ones coming from this portal when listening carefully.

Now, there have always been dark elements to Pokemon regarding their backgrounds and abilities. However, it has never been to the point where one becomes a portal to the afterlife that would like nothing more than to suck you in for eternity.

There is no doubt that players will have some goosebumps forming the next time they face off with this version of Gengar in Pokemon Sword and Shield in their future adventures.
