To celebrate the upcoming launch of Detective Pikachu Returns, Pokemon GO has announced an upcoming event, Pokemon GO Detective Pikachu Returns Event, to celebrate that gruff, coffee-loving Pikachu that we know and adore. There are many aspects to the Detective Pikachu Returns Event in Pokemon GO, and you can discover them all below; no detective work is required.

Pokemon GO Detective Pikachu Returns All Event Details

Event Date and Time

The Pokemon GO Detective Pikachu Returns Event will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. to Monday, October 9, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Field Research Task Encounters

The following Pokemon will be able to be encountered for the duration of the event during Field Research Task encounters.

Event Bonuses

The following Event Bonuses will be active for the duration of the event.

  • Trainers will be able to encounter a Pikachu wearing a detective hat once a day by taking a Snapshot.
  • Trainers will receive 2X XP for spinning PokeStops during the event.

Detective Pikachu Returns Event Timed Research

During the Detective Pikachu Returns Event, trainers will have access to free event timed research with its own story. This story focuses on Professor Willow who is attempting to track down a “Pokemon of interest”. During this research, trainers will be able to have the opportunity to find Pikachu wearing a detective hat via Field Research tasks.

As this is timed research, you will have to have it completed by Monday, October 9, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

New Avatar Pose and Collection Challenge

From October 5, 2023, you will be able to purchase a new avatar pose from the in-game store in the style of the famous yellow detective himself!

During this event, trainers will also be able to participate in a Collection Challenge which will most likely feature Pokemon relevant to the Detective Pikachu series!
