Pokemon Go – Best Places to Find Pokemon Types

If you can’t find a certain type of Pokemon we can give you some tips on where to search.

If you’re looking for a specific type of Pokemon in Pokemon Go, there are certain general locations you can look to find them. This guide will help you locate each type of Pokemon so you can add them to your Pokedex. Keep in mind, you won’t be able to find every Pokemon in the game just by staying in your immediate area. You will have to venture out of the neighborhood and possibly even out of your city if you wish to catch them all.

We already discussed the fact that some savvy Pokemon Trainers have compiled a few Google Maps with general locations of specific Pokemon. However, not every area has access to such helpful tools. Even the world map doesn’t have Pokemon for every city in the world. In addition, be sure to check out which Pokemon types are weak and strong to other types of Pokemon so you can plan out a gym battle strategy and search for the specific types you need to have the most success.

Bug Grassy areas such as parks, playgrounds, forests and the like.
Dark Generally found at night or located in dark places such as movie theaters.
Dragon Found in cities and occasionally near various large golf courses.
Electric Found in dry climates, usually near schools (mainly colleges) and industrial structures.
Fairy Located near national landmarks, monuments, churches and cemetaries.
Fighting Almost always found near sporting event locations such as arenas, boxing gyms and the like.
Fire Found in dry climates, usually in residential areas.
Flying Grassy areas such as parks, playgrounds, forests and the like.
Ghost Generally found at night, near cemetaries, or located in dark places such as movie theaters.
Grass Grassy areas such as parks, playgrounds, golf courses and the like.
Ground Found around areas with a lot of dirt such as open fields, beaches, airports and even railways.
Ice It’s rare to find Ice types, but they’re generally located near sources of water such as lakes or pond.
Normal Found almost anywhere as they are the most common type.
Poison Generally located near parks, sources of water such as lakes or pond, or industrial structures.
Psychic Found near beaches and grassy areas such as parks, playgrounds and forests.
Rock Usually located on or very near streets or parking lots.
Steel Generally found near railroad tracks and industrial structures.
Water Almost always located near sources of water such as lakes or pond.
