The Pokemon GO APK with the latest content has been datamined but sifting through all that information can be a bit of a mess. As with any major patch, there’s a whole host of new Pokemon to be added into the game. We’re going to save you the hassle of reading through a laundry list of every single name in the Unova Pokedex, but that’s essentially what’s being added. If it was a part of Generation V, then it’s going to end up in the game.

There have also been unique forms of Pokemon that were discovered in the datamined information. These appear to be seasonal variants of the beloved critters, including but not limited to:

  • Basculin (Red and Blue Striped)
  • Darmanitan (Regular and Zen)
  • Tornadus (Incarnate and Therian)
  • Thundurus (Therian and Incarnate)
  • Landorus (Therian and Incarnate)
  • Kyurem (Black, White, and Normal)
  • Keldeo (Regular, Resolute)
  • Meleotta (Pirouette and Aria)
  • Deerling (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter)
  • Sawsbuck (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter)
  • Genesect (Regular, Shock, Burn, Chill, Douse)

Pokemon GO APK v0.153.0 Guide: New Items

You already know all about the Unova Stone and its inclusion in this latest update patch. For the uninitiated, it’s a Stone which is most likely going to be used to evolve Gen 5 Pokemon. We’re not quite sure how to obtain this item in the game yet — the datamining left no real usable hints on that front — nor do we know when the item itself will actually be accessible to players. If you’re curious about this, check out our Pokemon GO Unova Stone guide for more information.

Some other items that are being rolled out with the upcoming Pokemon GO patch include:

The VS Seeker — this will let you Duel other players, and it looks like it’s going to be the catalyst through which players can experience the new Competitive System. This item will record everything relevant to your competitive ladder, including wins, losses, and how well you’ve done in the past. Flagging the VS Seeker apparently works kinda like turning on PvP mode.

Route Maker — this lets you create routes between Pokestops, and once you’ve created a route, you’ll be able to give your route a name. Might be a handy way to track all your walks home, or to ensure that you’re hitting as many Pokestops as you can when you’re on the way to a particular place. We’re not quite sure how it integrates with the Buddy system yet, but we know that’s an incoming consideration.

Pokemon GO APK v0.153.0 Guide: New Buddy System

If you thought the Buddy system needed some work before, or that it had to be more fully-featured, then you’re in luck. It’s getting a rehaul with the upcoming patch, and it’s going to introduce something called Buddy Levels. As the name might suggest, these are levels which you can gain from feeding, cleaning, and just hanging out with your Buddy. In terms of how this might integrate with the Route Maker section of the update, we’re thinking it might have something to do with how Buddy Pokemon can traverse those routes, but there’s been no direct confirmation of this.

It looks like while you can gain Buddy Points, you can also lose them as part of this new update. The data mined information appears to involve mention of Decay frequency, which could see some sort of increased functionality where trainers have their Buddy relationships diminish over time if the Pokemon involved in them aren’t taken care of properly.

Pokemon GO APK v0.153.0 Guide: Competitive Play

As mentioned before, Competitive Play is something which is fairly new, and it’s going to be pushed through into the system via the VS Seeker. There will be Trainer Battles, which will be split into various competitive seasons, and players will be able to rank up in Pokemon Go in a system that rates their performance. The VS Seeker will record all of your competitive results, as mentioned, and you’ll be able to track how you’re doing across various competitive seasons. At this stage, it looks like the different competitive seasons will have individualized settings so that they are distinct.

Now that you’ve got our Pokemon GO APK v0.153.0 guide to hand, you’ll be able to keep abreast of all the upcoming changes which have basically been confirmed via data mining to this stage. While it’s likely that we’re going to find out more as the community circulates this information and gears up for the next patch, so check our guides hub for more in the future.
