For fans of Overwatch’s player versus everything mode, Starwatch might be one of the best updates in a long time. Set in an alternative timeline, Starwatch allows you to choose between two teams: the Infinite Empire and the Watchers. These two teams will vie for control over 3CH0 (Echo) in an arena that has certain PvE elements. Here’s everything you need to know about Starwatch in Overwatch 2, including dates, gameplay, and rewards.

The long awaited game mode Starwatch will be making its debut on May 9 and will end on May 22.
This space opera features the Infinite Empire, led by Sigma, and the Watchers, led by Bonebreaker Doomfist. Like past PvE events, Starwatch teams will only have four people on each team.
All Playable Characters in Overwatch 2’s Starwatch
Players will have the option to choose between the Watchers or Infinite Empire in the arcade menu. Or you can opt to be a mercenary and fight for either side. Here are all the playable characters on both sides.

The Infinite Empire
- Soldier: 76
It kills me that Moira isn’t part of the list. She has a cool evil outfit too!
How to Play Overwatch 2’s Starwatch
Fitting with the space opera theme, Starwatch’s map is the Horizon Lunar Colony assault map. But now, there will be four points which the Infinite Empire must defend, and the Watchers must capture.
But Starwatch isn’t just Control on steroids. Beyond having to capture four points, the Infinite Empire will also have the benefit of turrets to help ward off the Watcher invasion. To keep the playing field equal, the Watchers will have the Watcher leader, Bonebreaker, lead the charge. Bonebreaker is an NPC Doomfist, who will likely be better than most of the random Doomfists you get on your team. Just so you know, the Infinite Empire doesn’t get a cool default NPC Sigma on your team.

As for the arena itself, there are certain interactable objects, like gravity implosion barrels. When shot, these barrels create miniature black holes like the ones Zarya makes. But these black holes affect all players within its range of effect, so be careful how you use them.
When you reach the final point, gravity can fail, sending all players into the air.
