New WoW Dragonflight Season 2 Mythic+ Affixes Explained

Can you hear the healer crying?

Another World of Warcraft Dragonflight Mythic+ season means new, but as of patch 10.1, season-exclusive affixes have been removed entirely. For the uninitiated: an affix is simply an enemy buff or mechanic introduced in Mythic+ Keystones. The higher the Keystone, the more affixes get piled on top of each other.

If you played Season 1, you likely remember Thundering, which required players of oppositely-charged polarities to group up and clear an otherwise devastating stunning debuff. This affix was exclusive to Season 1, and the idea was that each season we’d get a new “seasonal affix” to contend with – but Season 2 lacks any such system. There are, however, brand-new affixes in this missing system’s place. Let’s look at all this season’s affixes in WoW Dragonflight together.

New WoW Dragonflight Season 2 Mythic+ Affixes Explained

Removed Affixes: Explosive, Quaking, and Grievous have been removed from the game entirely. If you don’t know what these are, don’t sweat it! You won’t see them at all.

New Affixes

  • Afflicted: When in combat, a spooky ghost called an Afflicted Soul will sometimes appear. This soul begins casting a 10 second, uninterruptable spell called Afflicted Cry which reduces everyone’s Haste by 100% for 10 seconds. There are two ways to get rid of these spirits before they get the cast off: either dispel them with any ability which removes either curses, poison, or disease, or heal them to full health.
  • Entangling: Another “periodic”-style affix, this causes roots to sometimes ensnare players, slowing them by 30%. If you move 10 yards from the plant, you’ll break the vine slowing you down and remove the debuff. But if you don’t get away in time, you’ll be stunned for 3 seconds.
  • Incorporeal: The final new affix also summons spooky ghosts. This time they spam a spell called Destabilize which reduces player damage and healing by 50%. Good news – these guys can be dealt with by using crowd control abilities like Hex, Polymorph, or Freezing Trap. All CC abilities work on these enemies, so take your pick and spread the love.

That’s all the new affixes for Season 2! I for one am glad we don’t have another seasonal affix to deal with, Thundering was an absolute pain. While these new affixes look like a healer’s nightmare (my main role), I’ll happily take a few moments to smack down some ghosts if it means I don’t have to scramble to my nearest teammate every 30 seconds.
